Winegrowing region Posavje (4328 ha) is situated in Slovenia’s south-east and is divided in three districts: - Dolenjska – 2456 ha - Bizeljsko-Sremiè – 1264 ha - Bela krajina – 608 ha Geography: low hillsides are covered in many places with narrow valleys and extremely steep hillsides, on which even vines help to prevent erosion. Soil: The ground is primarily composed of marls and sandstones with limestone binding substances. In the majority of the Cvièek producing areas limestone and dolomites prevail. Climate and weather: annual rainfall is between 1070 and 1200 mm with characteristics of the continental and influences of the colder pre-Alpine climate. Main varieties: Žametovka (Kölner Blauer), Renski Rizling (Riesling), Modra Frankinja (Blaufränkisch), Kraljevina and others. |
